Who Put This Together
This resource was created and is maintained by trans, Two Spirit, non-binary and gender nonconforming people in Ottawa, surrounding counties, with collaboration from the Gatineau area. We wanted a timely way to connect with other community members for advice, recommendations and information on how to get our health needs met. Since we couldn't find the resources we needed, we are developing our own. We hope you, our communities, will provide us with direction and input at town hall meetings and by email. Meeting dates will be announced through our Twitter, Facebook page, and the email list.
Governance & Operations
We are grassroots, independent, unfunded and powered by volunteers from our communities. Principles and values, decision-making processes and guidelines for community consultation and accountability are in development.
How to Get Involved
If you are trans, Two Spirit, non-binary and/or gender nonconforming, come to a town hall meeting! This is the best way to get involved. We want our decisions and priorities to be based on the voices of as many community members as possible. A lot of valuable information is exchanged at these meetings as well. If you experience social anxiety or barriers to participating in a large group discussion, please let us know. We will find ways to support your participation. Some options are for us to arrange for a peer to greet you when you arrive and sit with you during the meeting or for one of the organizers to have a one-on-one conversation with you by phone or in person in lieu of attending. Accessibility information will be included on announcements about upcoming meetings.
Anyone can get involved in these ways: follow us on Twitter, Facebook, join our email list, encourage your friends and family to join us and re-post our content, and/or make a small donation to cover food costs and bus tickets for those attending our meetings.
