Dr. de Laplante is a bilingual family physician who works at the Montfort Academic Family Health Team. He is available to recieve referrals for second assesments for surgery. His current capacity is approximately two second assessments per month. Patients are required to have a valid OHIP card, and require a referral to Dr. de Laplante from an Ontario MD or NP.
Other required information in the referral package:
- Hormone readiness assessment & letter of recommendation ( if this was done )
- copy of the filled out SRS form for OHIP coverage + letter of support from the first assessor
- any recent laboratory values and chart notes from the treating physician/first assessor
Most second assessments can be completed by Dr. de Laplante within one 60 minute visit, though more than one appointment may be required. Referral requests + packages can be faxed to Dr. de Laplante’s office and his office will book the patient accordingly. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy as well as fees for missed appointments or appointments not cancelled within the 48 hr time frame. The clinic uninsured fees are a $30 fee for missed 15 minute appointments and a $60 fee for missed 30 minute appointments. Patients are typically not seen if they arrive late for an appointment.
Should there be development of a wait list / long wait times, the clinic director and Dr. de Laplante will review a system of triage. Given the clinic’s presence in the east of Ottawa and its francophone setting/affiliations, they would consider prioritizing francophone patients given there may be a greater need for services in French.
Massage Therapy | 222 Somerset St W, Suite 404, K2P 0J4
Luka is a non-binary Registered Massage Therapist and recent graduate from Algonquin College. They grew up in the rural outskirts of Ottawa with gardeners as parents, learning the values of holistic thinking, curiosity and a steady set of hands.
Luka can do post-operative top surgery work to help with scar remodeling, connective tissue restrictions, swelling and regaining sensation. They also work with reducing tenderness and pain in and around people's chests, whether from estrogen use or binding.
Outside of trans-specific care, they focus on mental health-informed and trauma-informed wellness massage, working with chronic pain, and rehabilitative approaches (usually combining deep tissue work and remedial exercise). Luka invests highly in their own continued learning and innovative approaches, as well as in empowering and supporting their clients to advocate for their own processes and needs, meeting people wherever they are at.
To schedule a massage with Luka or to obtain other information, you can contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org.

This is a group practice known to have ~3+ trans patients. It isn’t clear which physician or nurse practitioner has (the most) experience with trans folks.
